An Early Wednesday Morning Fire In Jersey City Has Left A Man Hospitalized In Critical Condition

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is continuing the investigation into the cause of an early Wednesday morning fire that left a 57-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey man hospitalized in critical condition from serious injuries.

Prosecutor Reports

     According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., the Jersey City Fire Department received a 911 Emergency Call reporting a fire at 336 and half 7th Street in Jersey City, New Jersey.

     Upon arrival, Firefighters located an active fire in a residence at that location. During fire suppression, firefighters found an unresponsive 57-year-old man inside the residence, having sustained severe injuries. The man was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was stabilized for his injuries, and transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

     The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department determined that the fire began in the bedroom of the residence. The cause remains under active investigation at this time.
