Four Dead & Multiple Injuries Reported In A Shooting At Apalachee High School In North Central Georgia

WINDER, GA.- Today, just shortly after 1:00 p.m., Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith has confirmed that just shortly around 9:30 a.m., local Barrow County law enforcement responded to Apalachee High School located in Widner, Georgia, on a report of an active shooter incident.
   Although there have been very few details released, Sheriff Smith has reported there were multiple injuries from gunfire. Police have taken a suspect into custody.
Sheriff Smith said local, state, and federal law enforcement were conducting a “very, very fluid investigation” and asked for patience from the media to let them gather the facts, and predicted that it would take “multiple days” to figure out just what happened and how.
Smith confirmed a second time that a suspect was in custody and said they were reuniting students with their parents.
UPDATE: 2:15 P.M. Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that four people have perished in the shooting.
