ELKINS W.VA.- On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Tosha Lantz, 31, of Aransas, Texas, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 6 months in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release on a charge of Mail Fraud.

According to documents filed with the court, Lantz, when residing in Randolph County, West Virginia, transferred funds from an elderly man’s bank account without his knowledge for her own personal benefit. Further, Lantz used the man’s identifying information to open credit cards for her personal use. The total amount of the fraud was $32,400.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod Douglas, who prosecuted the case, commended agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Virginia State Police for the investigation that led to Lantz’s arrest and conviction.
