Police Have Detained Driver In Rutherford Crash That Injured Four

RUTHERFORD, NJ.- Today, the driver of a Ford Ranger that collided with another vehicle on Route 3 West in Rutherford, leaving four people hospitalized, has been taken into custody for suspicion of drunk driving.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, just shortly after 5:00 a.m., members of the Rutherford Police Department responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles on Route 3 West in Rutherford.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 2022 Ford Ranger that had collided with a 2018 Honda HR-V. As a result of the crash, four people sustained injuries. The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Driver Detained On Suspicion Of Drunk Driving

     During the initial investigation, responding Rutherford Police Officers notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and Detectives responded to the scene. Further investigation led to the driver of the Ford Ranger being taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information may become available once authorities release it.
