Sophia Woman Sentenced To Federal Prison For Methamphetamine Charge

BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Friday, September 13, 2024, Ashley Nicole Luster, 29, of Sophia, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Court Judge Frank W. Volk to 8 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Methamphetamine.

     According to documents filed with the court on July 13, 2022, Luster sold 25 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a Beckley, West Virginia, apartment complex while her co-defendant, Angelo Johnson, aided her in the narcotics transaction.

     Luster admitted in court that she handed the 25 grams of methamphetamine to the confidential informant after Johnson received the money for the narcotics.

Co-Defendant Sentenced

     Angelo Johnson, 29, of Beckley, West Virginia, was sentenced on December 8, 2023, to 37 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Johnson had previously pleaded guilty to Aiding and Abetting and Abetting the Distribution of Methamphetamine.

     U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit.
