Man Critically Injured In Bayonne Fire

Arson Task Force Investigating Monday Afternoon’s Bayonne Fire

BAYONNE, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a residential fire that occurred late Monday afternoon in the basement of a Bayonne home, critically injuring a 56-year-old man.

     On Monday, September 16, 2024, just shortly after 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to multiple 911 Emergency Calls reporting a fire at 167 West 9th Street in the City of Bayonne.

     Upon arrival, Firefighters and Police Officers found a fire in the basement of a residential building. Upon entry into the basement, Firefighters found a 56-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. The man was immediately transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for treatment, where he remains listed in critical but stable condition.

     The Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are actively investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Anyone with information regarding this fire is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 915-1345.
