Brick Township Man Sentenced To Prison For Distributing Cocaine

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer reported that on Friday, September 13, 2024, Ezra Wheeler, 27, of Brick Township, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge David M. Fritch to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Wheeler had previously entered a guilty plea before Judge Fritch on July 15, 2024, to Possession of More than One Half-Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute in connection with an investigation that took place in June 2023 in Brick Township, New Jersey.
On June 8, 2023, during an ongoing narcotics into the distribution of cocaine throughout the Ocean County and Brick Township area. Detectives from the Brick Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit set up surveillance on a residence located on Coventry Court in the Township.
Detectives Stakeout Wheeler’s Residence
During the surveillance operation, Detectives observed Wheeler exit the residence and leave the area in a motor vehicle. Within minutes, Brick Township Police Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Wheeler’s vehicle. During the motor vehicle stop, Wheeler was found to be in possession of around 18 grams of cocaine. Upon the discovery of cocaine, Wheeler was taken into custody without incident.
A short time later, Detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant on Wheeler’s residence. During the search, Detectives found and seized around 100 grams of cocaine and $19,300 in cash.
At that time, Wheeler was criminally charged and transported to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, New Jersey. As the case progressed, Wheeler was released on bail conditions, and subsequent court proceedings led to Wheeler pleading guilty and a subsequent New Jersey State Prison sentence.
