West Virginia Woman Admits Guilt To Possessing Handgun On Supervised Release

ELKINS, W.VA.- On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, June Catherine Blanchek, 44, of Petersburg, West Virginia, appeared in U.S District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and entered a guilty plea before U.S District Court Judge Michael J. Aloi to Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
According to information in the complaint and filed with the court, Blanchek, who was on federal supervised release for a methamphetamine conviction in the Northern District of West Virginia, a charge that prohibits her from owning or possessing firearms. During a routine home visit by Federal Probation Officers to Blanchek’s Petersburg residence, Officers found a pistol in her bedroom.
Blanchek faces up to 15 years in federal prison when sentenced. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and aggravating and mitigating factors.
