PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Authorities are continuing the investigation into the origin and cause of an early Friday morning house fire in Paterson, New Jersey, that tragically claimed the lives of two people.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Friday, September 20, 2024, just after 2:30 a.m., the Paterson Police Department responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting a house fire at 71 North 7th Street in the City of Paterson.

Upon arrival, Firefighters and Police Officers found a fully involved fire at that location. Two individuals, a 69-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both from Paterson, New Jersey, were able to escape the burning structure.

After the fire was extinguished, investigators discovered the bodies of two other individuals. The names and ages of the two other individuals who apparently perished in the fire have not been confirmed and are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information may become available once released by authorities.

Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line at 1-877-370-PCPO or tips@passaiccountynj.org.
