Cliffside Park Man Charged With Child Endangerment

CLIFFSIDE PARK, NJ.- Today, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation on Friday, September 20, 2024, a 49-year-old Cliffside Park, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with the alleged inappropriate sexual contact with a preteen.

     On Friday, the Cliffside Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after the Police Department received a report regarding the alleged abuse of a child. 

     A subsequent investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit in conjunction with the Cliffside Park Police Department and following interviewing witnesses, including the child victim. Detectives determined that Daniel E. Lauture, 49, of Cliffside Park, engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of thirteen in Cliffside Park, New Jersey.

Detectives File Charges

     Accordingly, On Friday, Lauture was formally charged with one count of second-degree Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Lauture was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
