MANCHESTER, NJ.- On Friday, September 20, 2024, Robert J. Murray, Jr., 61, of Manchester Township, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Dina M. Vicari to ten years in New Jersey State Prison for a previously entered guilty plea.

On May 6, 2024, Murray pleaded guilty before Judge Vicari to Possession of More than One Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute. The guilty plea was in connection with an incident in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, in February 2023.

According To Prosecutor Billhimer

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on February 23, 2023, during the course of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Ocean County law enforcement officials executed a court-authorized search warrant on Murray’s motor vehicle and residence in Manchester Township, New Jersey, that was being used to store and distribute cocaine.

Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop in Lakewood, New Jersey, on that date. During the motor vehicle stop, Detectives found around 71 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle. At that time, Murray was taken into custody without incident.

Following Murray’s arrest, Detectives executed the court-authorized search warrant on Murray’s Manchester home, where Detectives located additional quantities of cocaine and $37 250 in cash in denominations, consistent with narcotics distribution.

After being taken into custody, Murray was formally charged and remanded to the Ocean County Jail. Following his first appearance, Murray was released on bail monitoring conditions. Following being sentenced on Friday, Murray was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending transfer to the New Jersey State Department of Corrections.
