Jersey City Men Facing Decades In Prison After Being Charged With Raping & Robbing Two Women

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Friday, September 20, 2024, three Jersey City, New Jersey, men were taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the sexual assault and robbery of two women that occurred on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, inside a Jersey City apartment.
Charges Filed Against Three Men
On Friday, Mohamed Mohamed, 24, Abdalla Abdelsalam, 20, and Mahmoud Hegazi, 18, all three from Jersey City, New Jersey, were each charged with six counts of first-degree offenses of Aggravated Sexual Assault; two counts of first-degree Robbery; two counts of first-degree Kidnapping; two counts of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; two counts of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Puropse; two counts of third-degree Criminal Restraint; two counts of third-degree Terroristic Threats; second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; two counts of second-degree Theft by Extortion; and two counts of third-degree Computer Criminal Activity.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, Detectives of the Hudson County Special Victims Unit took all three men into custody at their Jersey City residence. After being processed on the charges, the men were remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to have the men detained pending trial, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The charges are a result of an investigation when, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Detectives of the Hudson County Special Victims Unit were contacted that two women reported being robbed and sexually assaulted inside an apartment located on Bergen Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Investigation Determines
During a swift-moving investigation by Detectives of the Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, it was determined that the two women arranged to meet the three men. While at the apartment, the women were held against their will and sexually assaulted and robbed at gunpoint, and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the two women.
