Wednesday, September 25, 2024, 2:00 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

PLAINSBORO, NJ.- A 24-year-old Watchung, New Jersey woman who was charged last year and admitted into a deferred criminal prosecution program was taken into custody on Monday and criminally charged for the ongoing harassment of a Plainsboro, New Jersey man, who is employed by the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, in January 2024, Malina Jaffrey, 24, of Watchung, New Jersey, was enrolled into the Pre-Trial Intervention program by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office after she had been criminally charged with offenses related to bias-intimidation of a Plainsboro man.

In July 2024, Jaffrey began once again using different Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts to harass multiple family members of a staff member of the Prosecutor’s Office, including the staff member’s wife and sister. In one of the communications in September 2024, Jaffrey threatened to kill the man’s wife.

An investigation by Detectives of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office also determined that Jaffrey conducted AI searches on the staff member and his family during the online communications.

Charges Filed Against Jaffrey

Accordingly, on Monday, September 23, 2024, Jaffrey was taken into custody and jailed after being formally charged with three counts of fourth-degree Cyber Harassment; three counts of fourth-degree Retaliation Against a Public Official for Past Official Action; three counts of fourth-degree Stalking; one count of third-degree Criminal Coercion; and one count third-degree Terroristic Threats.

Jaffrey was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to have Jaffrey detained pending trial.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
