Kanawha County Man Sentenced To Prison For Narcotics Crime

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- Today, September 25, 2024, Reginald Clay Jackson, 43, of St. Albans, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge David A. Faber to 90 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.
According to documents filed and evidence presented to the court, on October 3, 2023, members of the Virginia State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a scooter that Jackson was operating in St. Albans, West Virginia.
During the stop, Police Officers learned that the scooter had been reported stolen, and Jackson could not produce a valid license, insurance, and registration. At that time, Jackson was immediately taken into custody and transported to the South Charleston Detachment of the West Virginia State Police and processed on the charges related to the stolen scooter.
Jackson Hides Fentanyl At Police Station
The following day, Police Officers found a plastic bag under a bench in the booking area. The bag contained seven individually wrapped baggies that each contained approximately 1 ounce of fentanyl. Security video footage showed Jackson removing the bag from his clothing and throwing it under the bench during processing.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson reported that Jackson has a lengthy criminal history that includes prior convictions for drug offenses, domestic battery, and strangulation.
