El Salvador Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Illegally Reentering The U.S.

HARTFORD, CT.- On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Fredy Adalberto Guardado Salgado, 43, also known as “Fredy Guardado,” and Fredy Salgado, a Salvadorian national, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver to 15 months in federal prison for Illegally Reentering the United States After Being Deported.

According To Charging Documents

     According to documents filed with the court, Guardado was deported from the United States back to El Salvador following a felony conviction in December 2010 in Connecticut Superior Court for second-degree assault involving a stabbing. Guardado illegally reentered the United States and, on August 6, 2023, was arrested by Hamden Police and processed on state charges of assault and breach of peace for allegedly using a wooden bat to hit multiple people in the head.   

     According to U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery, Guardado appeared before Judge Oliver on June 28, 2024, and pleaded guilty to illegal reentry. The state charges filed against Guardado are pending in Meriden Superior Court. Guardado remains in federal custody since his arrest.

     Agents of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations investigated the case.
