West Virginia Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Methamphetamine

BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, John Gray, 39, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn to a federal charge of Distribution of Methamphetamine.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, during Tuesday’s hearing, Judge Aboulhosn accepted Gray’s guilty plea and scheduled sentencing for January 24, 2025. At that time, Gray faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison, followed by at least three years of supervised release and a $1 million fine.
Gray Admits Guilt
According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 28, 2023, during a controlled buy, Gray admitted that he sold approximately 2 pounds of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Gray further admitted that he had sold approximately 848 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Oak Hill on May 1, 2023.
Gray also admitted to selling 3 grams of fentanyl on May 3, 2023, and another 3 grams of fentanyl on May 6, 2023, each time to a confidential informant in Oak Hill. During a March 1, 2024, interview with law enforcement investigators, Gray admitted that he had been distributing around 3 grams of fentanyl three times a week from April 2023 until his arrest in March 2024.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
