PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Shawn Michael Hoffman, 41, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge W. Scott Hardy to 108 months in federal prison, followed by ten years of supervised release for Possession of Child Sexual Exploitation Material.

According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan, on Wednesday, Judge Hardy imposed the sentence on Hoffman following his guilty plea to possession of child sexual exploitation material. During the hearing, Judge Hardy emphasized the serious nature of the offense and the harm Hoffman caused the minor victim.

According To Charging Documents

According to the charging information presented to the court, in September 2019, Hoffman initiated online communications and solicited sexually explicit images of the minor victim. Hoffman also received visual depictions of the minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct using the internet and cell phone.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation, which led to the indictment, conviction, and Wednesday’s sentence for Hoffman.
