Kanawha County Man Pleads Guilty To Distribution Of Methamphetamine

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Jonathan Fitzpatrick, 33, of Pratt, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before Senior U.S. District Court Judge David A. Faber to the Distribution of 500 Grams or More of a Substance Containing Methamphetamine.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Judge Faber accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 14, 2025, at which time Fitzpatrick faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and potentially up to life in federal prison, followed by at least 5 years of supervised release and a $10 million fine.
According to charging documents filed with the court, on June 3, 2024, Fitzpatrick sold around 10 pounds of methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled buy observed by law enforcement in the Kanawha County area of Charleston, West Virginia.
Fitzpatrick Admits Guilt
During the hearing, Fitzpatrick admitted to the sale and further admitted to selling a total of 90 pounds of a substance containing methamphetamine to the confidential informant between December 2022 and around April 2024.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Route 119 Drug Task Force for Fitzpatrick’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea.
