Saturday, September 28, 2024, 6:00 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Friday, September 27, 2024, Andrew Anastasio, 60, of Jackson Township, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison, with a mandatory three years to be served before becoming eligible for parole.

On Friday, in handing down the sentence for his previously entered guilty plea of Distribution of Child Pornography, Judge Rahill also ordered Anastasio, upon his release from prison, to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law requirements and will be under parole supervision for life.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, the charge and sentence are a result of an investigation that began when the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received cyber-tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual in the Ocean County, New Jersey area was sending and receiving digital images of child pornography from the internet.

Detectives Identify Anastasio

Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit investigated and identified an IP address linked to a residence in Jackson Township, New Jersey, as the location from which the individual was downloading digital images of child pornography from the internet, and was later identified as Anastasio.

Following the identification, on September 23, 2021, Ocean County law enforcement officials executed a court-authorized search warrant on Anastasio’s Jackson Township residence. During an initial forensic examination of Anastasio’s laptop computer, Detectives uncovered numerous images of child pornography. Anastasio was taken into custody and charged.

Following being processed on the charges filed by Ocean County authorities, Anastasio was remanded to the Ocean County Jail. Following his initial court appearance, Anastasio was released on bail conditions.

Following yesterday’s sentencing, Judge Rahill remanded Anastasio to the Ocean County Jail pending custody transfer to the New Jersey Department of Corrections, where he will begin serving his prison sentence.
