Toms River Man Charged In September 21, 2024, Pedestrian Hit And Run

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Friday, September 27, 2024, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer reported, that Stacy Jordan, 60, of Toms River, New Jersey, was taken into custody and jailed after being formally charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
The charge stems from an investigation that began on Saturday, September 21, 2024, when shortly after 9:30 p.m., members of the Toms River Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a pedestrian being hit by a motor vehicle in the area of Massachusettes Avenue and Mobile Lane in the Township.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Lance Carter, 25, of Toms River, New Jersey, suffering from serious injuries. Mr. Carter was immediately transported to Community Medical Center, where, as of Friday, he remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The initial investigation by responding officers discovered that a motor vehicle was traveling northbound on Massachusettes Avenue when it struck Mr. Carter and then fled the scene, leaving Mr. Carter lying in the roadway.
Detectives Identify Suspect
Subsequent investigations by Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Toms River Township Police Department, with the assistance of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, identified the motor vehicle and determined that Jordan was the driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Carter and then fled the scene.
Accordingly, on Friday, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Toms River Police Township Police Department took Jordan into custody without incident. Jordan was processed on the charge and remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court.
