BUFFALO, NY.- On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Ranique Davis, 31, of Niagara Falls, New York, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and pleaded guilty before Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny to Conspiracy with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.

After entering her guilty plea, Judge Skretny sentenced Davis to time served and three years of federal probation on the narcotics conspiracy charge.

According to U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross and documents filed with the court, on April 22, 2022, the Lockport Police and Fire Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting two people suffering from an apparent illicit narcotics overdose at a South Street residence.

Upon arrival, First Responders found Davis’s mother and stepfather both unconscious and unresponsive from a fentanyl overdose. First Responders administered Narcan to Davis’s stepfather, which reversed the fentanyl overdose, and he subsequently survived.

Davis’s Mother Dies From Fentanyl Poisoning

Despite life-saving efforts by First Responders, Davis’s mother succumbed to fentanyl poisoning and was pronounced deceased in the home.

During the subsequent investigation, an autopsy revealed the cause of Davis’s mother’s death was from acute fentanyl intoxication. Investigators further learned that Davis had communicated with her stepfather by cell phone and agreed to provide blue Percocet pills. After exchanging text messages, Davis and two co-conspirators drove to the South Street residence and sold Davis’s stepfather four fentanyl-laced fake Percocet pills.

A Shot time later, after purchasing the pills, Davis’s mother and stepfather took the pills, and both lost consciousness, ultimately leading to Davis’s mother’s death.

U.S. Attorney Ross commended the investigative efforts of agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lockport Police Department for the investigation, arrest, guilty plea, and Wednesday’s sentencing.
