Detroit Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Narcotics Distribution

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- On Monday, September 30, 2024, Michael Dayshawn Harris, also known as “Polo,” 31, of Detroit, Michigan, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to 121 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for Distribution of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
According To Documents Filed With The Court
According to documents filed with the court and statements made in the court, on October 6, 2022, Harris sold and distributed 29 grams of a mixture and substance containing detectable amounts of methamphetamine and a quantity of fentanyl to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement in Huntington, West Virginia.
During the court hearing, Harris admitted to Judge Chambers that he sold the controlled dangerous substances to the informant and further admitted that he arranged the sale when the confidential informant called him earlier that day.
Harris’ co-defendant Desmond Devon Magee, also known as “Rich,” 28, also from Detroit, Michigan, was sentenced on May 22, 2023, to 48 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Distribution of a Mixture Containing Methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department for successfully investigating and prosecuting Harris and Magee.
