High Point Man Sentenced To Prison For Distribution Crystal Methamphetamine

MARTINSBURG, W.VA.- Today, October 1, 2024, Phillip Scott Barnette, 41, of High Point, North Carolina, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Gina M. Groh to 200 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

     Judge Groh imposed the prison sentence following Barnette’s guilty pleas on the charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Crystal Methamphetamine; Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; and Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine.

Barnette Conspired With Others

     According to documents filed with the court, Barnette, also known as “E-Lo,” conspired and worked with others to distribute and sell crystal methamphetamine as well as other controlled dangerous substances throughout Falling Waters, West Virginia, and surrounding areas.

     Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Kane, who prosecuted the case for the government, commended the efforts of the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation that led to Barnette’s arrest, conviction and today’s federal prison sentence.
