Camden Woman Surrenders To Police After Being Charged With Murder

CAMDEN, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, a 30-year-old Camden, New Jersey, woman surrendered herself to Detectives of the Camden County Police Department after being charged with fatally running down a 41-year-old Camden woman Wednesday afternoon in Camden, New Jersey.
Williams Charged With Murder
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, Ajee Williams, 30, of Camden, New Jersey, was taken into custody following surrendering herself and was formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder in connection with the death of Carla Mahan, 41, of Camden, New Jersey.
The charge stems from an investigation that began on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, when shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a female pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle that fled the scene in the area of 7th and Tulip Streets in the City of Camden.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Carla Mahan, 41, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Ms. Mahan was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased around 30 minutes later.
Williams Identified As Driver
A subsequent investigation led by Detective Daniel Crawford of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Andrew Mogck of the Camden County Police Department were able to identify the vehicle and Ms. Williams as the driver of the car that ran down and killed Ms. Mahan.
Following being processed on the charge, Ms. Williams was detained pending future court proceedings in Camden County Superior Court in Camden, New Jersey.
