HARRISBURG, PA.- On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Rhonda Rochelle Canidate, 48, of Greensboro, North Carolina, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner to a two count federal criminal indictment charging her with Wire Fraud; and Money Laundering.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerald M. Karam, between March 2021 through July 2022, Canidate was employed as an accountant at Henry Molded Products Company, located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

During her term of employment between October 2021 and June 2022, Canidate entered false payment entries for former Henry Molded employees into Henry Molded’s third-party payroll system, causing the system to issue direct deposit payments from Henry Molded’s bank account to bank accounts controlled by Canidate in the name of former employees.

Total Amount Of Fraud

The fraud not only financially injured Henry Molded Products Company but also harmed the former employees by creating an overpayment for tax purposes. Canidate caused a loss of $532,050 and has agreed to pay full restitution in accordance with a schedule set by the court.

Judge Conner accepted Canidate’s guilty plea and scheduled sentencing for a date to be determined by the court. When sentenced, Canidate faces up to 30 years in federal prison on both charges.
