Canonsburg Man Indicted On 11 Counts Of Sexual Exploitation Of Children

PITTSBURGH, PA.- Today, October 3, 2024, a Federal Grand Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania has returned an eleven-count indictment against Justin A. Darby, 36, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, on multiple charges of Child Sexual Exploitation.

According To Charging Information

     According to the charging information unsealed in the indictment, it has been alleged that Darby received and attempted to receive material depicting the sexual exploitation of a child on five separate occasions during the months of September and October 2021, as well as on one occasion in February 2024.

     Darby is also alleged to have distributed the child sexual abuse material on one occasion in September 2021. Further allegations in the indictment allege that, from September 20, 2021, through October 29, 2021, Darby accessed the internet to view digital files depicting nude or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children and that on February 6, 2024, Darby induced a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce visual depictions of such conduct.

     Additionally, Darby is charged with altering, destroying, concealing, or covering up records associated with an online messaging application on his cell phone on two occasions.

     A U.S. District Court Judge has ordered Darby to be detained pending trial on the charges in the indictment. If convicted at trial, Darby faces up to 30 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.

     Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case.
