Zanesville Man Sentenced To Prison For For Federal Narcotics Offense

ELKINS, W.VA.- Today, October 3, 2024, Arkmeem Y. Vaughn, 51, of Zanesville, Ohio, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S Kleeh to 70 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for methamphetamine charges.
In February 2024, Vaughn appeared in U.S. District Court and pleaded guilty before Judge Kleeh to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest
According to documents filed with the court, members of the Elkins Police Department conducted a motor vehicle traffic stop on Vaughn’s vehicle and located 151 grams of crystal methamphetamine, $7,000 in U.S. currency, and a detailed drug ledger revealing sales and distribution locations.
Evidence further revealed that Vaughn was traveling from Zanesville, Ohio, to Elkins, West Virginia, to sell and distribute crystal methamphetamine in Elkins and surrounding communities in Randolph County, West Virginia.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner commended the investigative efforts of the Mountain Region Drug Task Force and the Elkins Police Department for the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Vaughn.
