TOMS RIVER, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Keith Hahn, 46, of Toms River, New Jersey, was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault; Sexual Assault; Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact; Kidnapping; Luring; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in connection with an incident that occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2024, in Toms River, New Jersey.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Sunday, the Manchester Township Police Department was contacted by a 14-year-old girl who reported that she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
Detectives Uncover The Sexual Assault
An initial investigation by Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Toms River Township Police Department determined that the girl had been walking on Route 70 in Manchester Township when she became lost. A man driving a white Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up to the girl and began talking with her. After a few moments, the girl asked the man if he could drive her to the animal shelter in Toms River.
The girl entered the man’s vehicle, and instead of driving her to the animal shelter, he drove her to an area in Toms River where he sexually assaulted her. The man then drove the girl to the Walmart in Toms River, where she jumped out of the car and ran home.
Detectives Identify Hahn A Registered Sex Offender
An ensuing investigation by Ocean County law enforcement officials determined that Hahn, a registered sex offender, was the individual responsible for sexually assaulting the teen girl.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Ocean County law enforcement Detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant on Hahn’s residence and vehicle. During the search warrant, Hahn was taken into custody and charged.
Hahn was processed on the charges and remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to have Hahn detained pending trial.
