Washington D.C. Man Pleads Guilty To Charges In March 2024 D.C. Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Taiyon Suggs, 49, of Washington, D.C., appeared in Superior Court for the District of Columbia and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Heidi Pasichow to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; and Possession of a Firearm during a Crime of Violence.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Judge Pasichow accepted Suggs’s guilty plea and scheduled sentencing for December 10, 2024. At that time, Suggs faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison. Judge Pasichow ordered Suggs to remain detained pending sentencing.
According To Statements Made By Authorities
According to U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department. On March 25, 2024, at around 5:00 p.m., following an altercation, Suggs multiple gunshots at the victim as the victim fled in his vehicle in an alley near the 3700 Block of 10th Street Northeast in Washington, D.C.
The initial investigation by responding Police Officers determined at least one of the bullets fired from Suggs hit the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle.
Following a swift-moving investigation by Metropolitan Police Detectives, Suggs was identified as the shooter and was apprehended on April 10, 2024, and has remained in custody since his arrest.
