BOSTON, MA.- On Thursday, October 3, 2024, Wilson Hernandez-Bautista, 34, of Guatemala, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusettes and was sentenced by U.S. Superior Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton to 21 months in federal prison for his previously entered guilty plea for reentering the United States illegally.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, in June 2024, Hernandez-Bautista pleaded guilty before Judge Gorton to one count of Unlawful Reentry of a Deported Alien. Hernandez-Bautista had been indicted on the charge in December 2023.

According to documents in the charging information filed with the court, Hernandez-Bautista was deported from the United States on October 9, 2013. Sometime after his removal, Hernandez-Bautista unlawfully reentered the United States.

Hernandez-Bautista Convicted Child Rape

On November 23, 2022, Hernandez-Bautista was convicted of Rape of a Child by Force in Essex County Superior Court. While serving a five-to-seven-year state prison sentence, immigration officials became aware of Hernandez-Bautista unlawful reentry into the United States.

During a subsequent interview with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officers, Hernandez-Bautista admitted that he paid a smuggler in 2015 to bring him back illegally into the United States.
