Mexican National Indicted For Illegally Entering The U.S. After Being Deported

HARRISBURG, PA.- On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment against Elvis Alfonso Lopez-Perez, 31, of Mexico, charging him with one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment alleges that Lopez-Perez was previously removed from the United States on February 1, 2013. It is further alleged that Lopez-Perez was found in the United States on May 28, 2024, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, without first obtaining legal status or permission to reenter the United States.
Lopez-Perez Faces Two Years In Prison
If convicted on the charge, Lopez-Perez faces up to two years in federal prison, followed by immediate deportation upon his release from imprisonment.
The case was investigated by Agents of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations.
