A Capitol Heights, Maryland, Man Fatally Shot Monday In Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- D.C. Metropolitan Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 34-year-old Capitol Heights, Maryland man, who was gunned down yesterday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C.

According To Metropolitan Police Chief Smith

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, October 7, 2024, at around 9:41 a.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting with injuries on the 4100 Block of Southern Avenue in Southeast Washington, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Dominic Johnson, 34, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, on the ground unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Mr. Johnson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time as Detectives continue the search for the gunman.
