Michigan Men Sentenced To Prison For Methamphetamine Trafficking

CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- On Monday, October 7, 2024, two Michigan men appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and were sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh for their roles in a drug trafficking organization operating in Monongalia County, West Virginia.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley, on Monday, Giovanni George, 34, of Taylor, Michigan, was sentenced by Judge Kleeh to 141 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Addonis Moore, 29, of Detroit, Michigan, was also sentenced by Judge Kleeh to 121 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Both men had previously pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Narcotics Trafficking From Michigan To West Virginia
According to documents filed with the district court, George and Moore were two of several defendants in a drug trafficking conspiracy that stretched from Michigan to Monongalia County, West Virginia.
During a traffic stop, Police Officers discovered nearly one pound of methamphetamine in George’s car, in which Moore was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
Both Men Have Multiple Prior Convictions
George has an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for domestic battery, possession of controlled dangerous substances, unlawful assault, witness intimidation, violation of a protective order, robbery, and wanton endangerment. Moore has prior convictions for drug charges in Michigan.
The guilty plea and Monday’s prison sentences stem from an investigation by members of the Monongalia Metro Drug Task Force.
