Second Monday Morning D.C. Shooting Claims The Life Of  Maryland Man

WASHINGTON, DC.- D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives are investigating a second Monday morning shooting that claimed the life of a 30-year-old Hyattsville, Maryland man in Northeast Washington, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, October 7, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a second 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting with injuries on the 1100 Block of Eastern Avenue in Northeast Washington, D.C.

Second Maryland Man Killed

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Eric Alexander, 30, of Hyattsville, Maryland, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Service technicians, Mr. Alexander succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue their search for the gunman.
