Elkins Woman Sentenced To Prison For Methamphetamine Trafficking

ELKINS, W.VA.- On Monday, October 7, 2024, Pansy Loraine Ray, 44, of Elkins, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 36 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for Methamphetamine Trafficking.
According to documents filed with the district court, Ray assisted Donald Cantrell, Jr., a co-defendant in the case, by hiding narcotics and narcotics proceeds in her residence to aid Cantrell in his methamphetamine distribution activities.
During a court-authorized search warrant of Ray’s home, investigators uncovered 220 grams of methamphetamine, $18,000 in U.S. currency in denominations consistent with narcotics sales, and various drug paraphernalia items used for packaging of narcotics.
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Ray’s co-defendant, Donald Cantrell, appeared in U.S. District Court and was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for his role in the methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Members of the Mountain Regional Drug Task Force conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case.
