Paterson Man Charged In Saturday’s Late Night Shootout

PATERSON, NJ.- A 28-year-old Paterson, New Jersey man has been charged in connection with the October 5, 2024, Saturday night shootout in the City of Paterson that claimed the life of a 33-year-old Paterson man.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, following an investigation by the Paterson Police Department in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Uvaldo Mora, 28, of Paterson, was formally charged with second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.
Mora was processed on the charges and remains in custody at the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Passaic County Central Judicial Processing Court. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to detain Mora pending trial.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Saturday, October 5, 2024, when, around 11:15 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department received information that two men were involved in a shoot-out in the area of Straight Street and Park Avenue in the City of Paterson.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 33-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man suffering from a gunshot wound to his head and multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. The second man, identified as Mora, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Man Succumbs To Injuries
Both men were immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts by doctors, the 33-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
