PITTSBURGH, PA.- U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan reported, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, that a Federal Grand Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment against Mark Laughner, 38, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on a charge of Bank Robbery.

According to charging information unsealed in the indictment, on May 16, 2024, at just around 2:30 p.m., Laughner entered the Dollar Bank in Reserve Township, Pennsylvania. Once inside the bank, Laughner, by force, threat of violence, and intimidation, took $1,370 in cash from the teller.

If Convicted Laughner Face 20 Years In Prison

If convicted on the charge of bank robbery, Laughner faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000, or both. The actual sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Laughner’s prior criminal history, if any.

The Allegheny County Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation, which led to Laughner’s arrest and indictment.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
