HARRISBURG, PA. On Monday, October 7, 2024, Scott Douglas Moyer, 49, of Union Township, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner to 120 months in federal prison for narcotics trafficking offenses.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Moyer was initially arrested, convicted, and sentenced for trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine from his Union Township home between October 2020 and February 2021. Following being charged, Moyer pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.

Moyer Admits To Distributing Methamphetamine

During his plea allocution, Moyer admitted that on multiple occasions, he distributed methamphetamine from his home. On February 1, 2022, law enforcement executed a court-authorized search warrant on Moyer’s Union Township home. During the search, Detectives uncovered and seized close to a kilogram of methamphetamine and 17 various firearms.

During Monday’s sentencing hearing, Judge Conner, in handing down the sentence, noted the significant amount of narcotics that were distributed and seized, as well as the presence of weapons recovered inside his home.

U.S. Attorney Karam commended the efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in conducting the investigation, which led to Moyer’s successful prosecution.
