Jersey City Man Dies From Injuries In Wednesday Morning House Fire

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Investigators of the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are continuing the investigation into yesterday’s fatal fire that claimed the life of a 56-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey man.
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, just shortly after 10:00 a.m., the Jersey City Fire Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a fire at 121 Garfield Avenue in Jersey City.
Upon arrival, Firefighters found fire coming from a third-floor bedroom of a three-story residential building.
While extinguishing the fire, Firefighters a severely injured man, later identified as Pablo Renta, 56, of Jersey City. Mr. Renta was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving measures by doctors, Mr. Renta succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The investigation into the origin and the cause of the fire remains ongoing. Foul play is not suspected at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 915-1345.
