ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Friday, October 11, 2024, Darnell Tenner, 30, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Donna M. Taylor for Assault, Narcotics, and Terroristic Threats charges.

In return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Tenner be sentenced to four years in New Jersey State Prison for third-degree Aggravated Assault, 365 days in New Jersey State Prison for fourth-degree Aggravated Assault, three years in New Jersey State Prison for third-degree Possession of Cocaine, all to run concurrent to 365 days in New Jersey State Prison for the charge of third-degree Terroristic Threats.

According To The Prosecutor’s Office

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, the guilty pleas stem from three separate incidents that began on November 18, 2023, at around 11:40 a.m. While on patrol, Atlantic City Police Officers observed Tenner in the area of Kentucky and Atlantic Avenues holding a clear plastic sandwich bag containing a white rocklike powdery substance the Police Officers believed to be cocaine. Tenner was taken into custody and charged. Later, laboratory analysis confirmed the substance was cocaine.

On January 18, 2024, Atlantic City Police Officers were on patrol when they were flagged down at around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues by a woman who told Police Officers that she was physically assaulted by her boyfriend, Darnell Tenner, who punched her in the mouth and threatened to kill her, numerous time. The woman pointed out Tenner, standing in front of a 24-Hour Food Mart.  Tenner was taken into custody and charged in the incident.

On March 21, 2024, around 8:30 p.m., a Police Officer of the Atlantic City Police Department was flagged down right around the Renaissance Plaza by a woman who appeared visibly shaken. The woman told the Police Officer that she was in a dating relationship with Tenner, who earlier in the day physically assaulted her by binding her hands and feet and stuffing a sock in her mouth. Additionally, during the assault, Tenner punched her in the mouth, causing her to lose some teeth.

The woman told the Police Officer where Tenner was, and he was placed under arrest. While in custody, Tenner provided Police with a false name, became irate, and attempted to spit on Police Officers. The woman was transported to AtlantiCare Hospital for treatment.

During Friday’s hearing, Judge Taylor accepted Tenner’s guilty pleas and scheduled Tenner for sentencing on December 20, 2024, in Atlantic County Superior Court.
