BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, a 37-year-old Brick Township, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a bizarre chain of events that unfolded during the early morning hours on Tuesday.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at around 4:20 a.m., members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at The Corner Store located on Ocean Gate Drive in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a woman had entered the store, pulled out a knife on the cashier, and demanded money and cigarettes. The store cashier complied with the woman’s demands and gave her cash and cigarettes to the woman, who then fled the store.

Police Officers Learn Of Dollar General Store Burglary

During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that just prior to The Corner Store robbery, a woman threw a rock through the front window of Dollar General Store on Atlantic City Boulevard and entered the store in an attempt to get cigarettes. She left the store after she failed to get access to the cigarette area. She then exited the Dollar General and headed to The Corner Store.

An ensuing investigation led Detectives to identify the suspect as Jessica Napolitano, 37, of Brick Township, New Jersey as the suspect. Later that day, Police Officers located Napolitano in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, where she was taken into custody without incident.

Accordingly, on Tuesday, Napolitano was formally charged with Robbery; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Burglary; and Criminal Mischief. Napolitano was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
