CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Trenton Alan Cremeans, 23, of Seth, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before Senior U.S. District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr., to Possession of Child Pornography.

Following entering his guilty plea on Wednesday, Judge Copenhaver accepted Cremeans’ guilty plea and scheduled sentencing for January 16, 2025. At which time, Cremeans faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison, followed by at least five years and up to life of supervised release. Cremeans will also be required to register as a sex offender in the national database and a $250,00 fine.

According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, on January 17, 2024, Cremeans possessed around 115 digital images and 22 video files of child pornography on his cellular phone. Cremeans admitted in court on Wednesday that the digital images and video files contained the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent children.

Cremeans further admitted in court that he downloaded these digital images and video files online and used his cell phone to search online for child pornography sites and related information using specific search terms.

U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation leading to Cremeans’ arrest and Wednesday’s guilty plea.
