Southeast D.C. Man Wanted On Charges For May 2024 Southeast Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspect who has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a 35-year-old man that occurred on May 22, 2024, in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, shortly before 11:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to multiple reports of a shooting with injuries on the 4800 Block of Alabama Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders found a man, later identified as William Spriggs, 35, of Southeast, D.C., unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Spriggs was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
Darvin Banks
Following an investigation, Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department were able to identify Darvin Banks, 42, of Southeast, D.C., as the shooter and the individual responsible for the death of Mr. Spriggs. Accordingly, Banks was formally charged with first-degree Murder while Armed and a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant was issued.
