Search Continues For Suspect In Sunday Morning’s Southeast Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives are actively searching for the gunman who shot a Suitland, Maryland man dead Sunday morning in Southeast D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at around 8:47 a.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a motor vehicle crash on the 1400 Block of 18th Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Shooting Victim Inside Car
Upon arrival, Police Officers and First responders found a man, later identified as Leonard Taylor, Jr., 28, of Suitland, Maryland, unresponsive inside a vehicle from a gunshot wound. Following life-saving measures by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel, Mr. Taylor tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
