MARTINSBURG, W.VA.- On Monday, October 21, 2024, Donald McDuffin Williams, 49, of Baltimore, Maryland, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Magistrate Court Judge Robert W. Trumble to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.

Following the entry of his guilty plea, Judge Trumble accepted the plea and scheduled Williams to be sentenced on a date determined by the court. At that time, Williams faces up to 20 years in federal prison. A federal court judge will determine the actual term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Williams’ prior criminal history, if any.

According to documents filed with the court, as part of an investigation into the distribution of fentanyl throughout the Northern District of West Virginia, Williams was identified as an individual who was selling and distributing the illicit narcotic. Federal agents obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant on Williams’ residence and uncovered various narcotics and drug paraphernalia consistent with the repackaging of narcotics for distribution and cash.

The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug Task Force, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher, who is prosecuting the case against Williams.
