PALISADES PARK, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Monday, October 21, 2024, a 46-year-old Palisades Park, New Jersey, man was taken into custody by Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and charged with the alleged sexual assaults of a child that began when the child was 5-years-old.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child that had occurred in the past.

Detectives Determine Crimes Were Committed

A subsequent investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Palisades Police Department, and after interviewing witnesses, including the victim, Detectives determined that Pedro A. Osorio-Estrada sexually assaulted the juvenile victim on multiple occasions when the child was between the ages of five and fifteen years old.

Based upon the investigation, Detectives found probable cause to file charges against Osorio-Estrada for the crimes he committed against the child.

Charges Filed On Monday

Accordingly, on Monday, Osorio-Estrada was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault; three counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and three counts of third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.

Osorio-Estrada was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

If convicted at trial of the charges, due to the nature, the age of the child victim, and the continued pattern of alleged sexual abuse, Osorio-Estrada faces 25 years and up to life in New Jersey State Prison.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
