Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 4:00 P.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BOSTON, MA.- On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Fabian Lopez Mejia, 31, of Colombia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to six months in federal prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea for illegally reentering the United States.

In June 2024, a Federal Grand Jury for the District of Massachusetts indicted Mejia on one count of Unlawful Reentry of a Deported Alien. Mejia subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court last month.

According to charging documents unsealed in the indictment, Mejia was previously removed from the United States in November 2019. Sometime after his removal, Mejia reentered the United States without first obtaining permission. Federal authorities became aware of Mejia’s return to the United States while he was serving a state prison sentence after he pleaded guilty in October 2023, in Suffolk County Court to one count of possession with intent to distribute a Class B Substance and one count of forgery and or misuse of an RMV document.
