BOSTON, MA.- On Monday, October 21, 2024, an Indian national was taken into custody and charged for allegedly masturbating and exposing himself to two passengers seated near him aboard an international flight from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to Boston, Massachusetts.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy, Krishna Kunapuli, 39, of India, was charged by criminal complaint with one count of Lewd, Indecent, and Obscene Acts while in the special jurisdiction of the United States. Kunapuli was taken into custody after landing at Boston’s Logan International Airport.
According To Charging Documents
According to the charging documents filed with the court, Kunapuli allegedly made unwanted sexual advances toward a female passenger on board an Etihad Airlines flight that included touching her hair and taking pictures of her without her permission. After flight attendants intervened, Kunapuli returned to his seat.
It has been further alleged that after returning to his seat and later during the flight, two men seated near Kunapuli noticed Kunapuli masturbating under a blanket and, at times, with his penis exposed. One of the men reported Kunapuli’s conduct to a flight attendant, who told Kunapuli to stop and then alerted law enforcement.
If convicted at trial of the charge, Kunapuli faces 90 days and up to one year of supervised release and a $5,000 fine.
