Harpers Ferry Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Crime

MARTINSBURG, W.VA.- On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Bradley Charles Reckert, Jr. of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert J. Trumble to one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Salem and charging documents filed with the court, Reckert possessed a privately manufactured AR-style pistol inside his Harpers Ferry residence.
Reckert Admits To Drug Use
During Tuesday’s plea hearing, Reckert admitted in court that he knew he was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms because of his use and abuse of illicit narcotics.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, the Berkely County Sheriff’s Office, and the Loudoun County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, which led to Reckert’s guilty plea on Tuesday.
