Two Killed & One Critical In Two Separate D.C. Southeast Shootings

WASHINGTON, DC.- Metropolitan Police Detectives are actively searching for suspects who opened fire on Wednesday, killing two Southeast D.C. men and leaving another man hospitalized in critical condition in two separate shootings in Southeast D.C.

Wednesday Morning Shooting

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, shortly after 11:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting with injuries on the 2300 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found two men suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both men were immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital where one of the men, identified as Antonio Kojesus, 44, of Southeast D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The other man underwent surgery and remains hospitalized and is listed in critical condition.

Wednesday Afternoon Shooting

      While Homicide Detectives were investigating on Pennsylvania Avenue. At approximately 4:09 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a second 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being shot on the 4200 Block of 6th Street in Southeast D.C..

     Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders found a man, later identified as Asonta Dunmore, 22, of Southeast D.C., unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced Mr. Dunmore deceased at the scene.

     The investigations remain active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives are continuing to search for suspects and the motives for the shootings.
